No more fully Swedish CS:GO lineups for Fnatic as they add Alex and mezii

As Fnatic has decided to add both Alex “ALEX” McMeeking and William “mezii” Merriman to their roster, their era of Swedish lineups seems to be over.

Fnatic decided to go with ALEX and mezii as they needed to round out their CS:GO lineup again, which currently only featured Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson, Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin and Jack “Jackinho” Ström Mattsson. The roster had two open spots available due to the benching of two of their players earlier in July, namely Jesper “JW” Wecksell and Maikil “Golden” Selim.

The organization announced the news with a video on Twitter and on their website. There they also explain their decision to move into more international lineups going forward. “After the first careful consideration, we decided that our best way forward would be to adopt an international lineup to ensure our purpose and vision would best be met. We have a huge amount of respect and admiration for the Swedish CS:GO scene, however, we felt an international lineup would provide us with many more options and greater flexibility for the future.”

New Fnatic player ALEX also went on to speak about the signing. “I am honored to be given the opportunity to represent such a legendary team. I have nothing but respect for the legacy the past teams have created here and I know that there are big shoes to fill. I am looking forward to working alongside the Fnatic to develop the team’s performance both on and off the server.”
