PlayStation 5 Showcase reveals KOTOR remake, God of War, Spider-Man 2 & more

PlayStation 5's newest showcase packs quite a punch with plenty of blockbusters and a remake for a legendary RPG.

On September 9 Sony held the PlayStation 5 Showcase online and showed off some of the most-awaited games coming to the next-gen console. God of War Ragnarok and Spider-Man 2 led the charge for new games, but Sony also presented a remake for Star Wars – Knight of the Old Republic and a port of GTA V to the PS5.

Here are the biggest announcement of the showcase together with their trailers:

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake

Nobody expected Sony to come out with this gem during the Showcase. The legendary RPG was released all the way back in 2003 and was one of the cornerstones of the reputation that BioWare has earned as one of the best RPG developers.

The remake is being handled by Aspyr Media, who had previously also brought Star Wars classics like Star Wars: Republic Commando to modern consoles and PC. Fans can look forward to a modern interpretation of a true RPG classic.

God of War Ragnarok

At the end of the last God of War a mysterious figure appeared at Kratos’ and Atreus’ house and revealed Mjolnir. Subsequently we knew that Thor would play a major role in the sequel.

After last years announcement, Sony now finally revealed the full title of the next game: God of War Ragnarok. While we still await a release in 2022, fans could at least take a glimpse at the first in-game scenes.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

2023 will see the release of the sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man on PlayStation 5. While the trailer was short it did offer some reveals:

Peter Parker will have to team up with Miles Morales to fight Venom in an absolutely cinematic atmosphere.

Grand Theft Auto V und Grand Theft Auto Online for PS5

Still no news on GTA VI but Rockstar Games at least showed off their PS5-Port for GTA V. Scheduled for March 2022 it should help alleviate the pain of waiting for a sequel.

At least players of GTA V Online will be able to move over to the PlayStation 5 then.

Over the course of the Showcase there were of course even more reveals. Here is a list of the other games featured:

  • Marvel’s Wolverine

  • Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection

  • Gran Turismo 7

  • Forspoken

  • Projekt Eve

  • Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

  • Alan Wake Remastered

You can find the trailers and the showcase as VOD on the official YouTube channel.
