Team manager Baby Ignacio explains what happened in the Nexplay EVOS boot camp

After a disappointing run in the MPL PH Season 8 Week 1, Dogie ranted about the mismanagement of the Nexplay EVOS boot camp in Manila, Philippines. The pro player revealed that players in the boot camp are reportedly drinking during weekends.

He also expressed his disappointment when Renejay "RENEJAY" Barcarse’s father went to the boot camp to retrieve his son from the boot camp and no one was there to entertain him.

In response to this, the team manager of Nexplay EVOS, Baby Ignacio posted a vlog on 2nd Aug 2021, apologizing for the mismanagement and promised to do better moving forward.

“I just wanted to say sorry for my mismanagement and I will take accountability for everything that Brother Dogs said, everything that Renejay expressed that made him leave the NXP boot camp,” stated Baby Ignacio.

The manager added that the video wasn't made to deny the allegations or defend himself. According to Baby Ignacio, the staff organized a party to promote “bonding” to the team in celebrating their first week inside their new boot camp. However, it went overboard which Dogie pointed out in his live stream.

“The mistake is we overdid it, in a way, Brother Dogs was right in asking why we let the girls visit the boot camp for boys,” stated Baby Ignacio.

The team manager explained that Dogie was referring to the girls that are members of the all-female Wild Rift esports squad, Nexplay Tempest. There are two boot camps in Manila, Philippines – the first one being the Nexplay EVOS MPL PH team and the second one by the Nexplay Esports female Wild Rift squad. Baby Ignacio also added that since the incident, the management has implemented stricter rules in the boot camp. Both teams are now prohibited from visiting each other and drinking and partying are no longer allowed. She said that violators are subject to an undisclosed fine or worse, termination.

Nexplay EVOS is currently in the bottom ranks with a 0-2 record alongside world champions, Bren Esports and former Execration squad, Omega Esports. The team is hoping to bounce back in the MPL PH Season 8 Week 2 and is scheduled for the opening match against ONIC PH on 3rd Sept 2021 at 6:00 PM (PHT). It will be interesting to see if we will be seeing RENEJAY playing in the second week.
