July 2021 India console sales saw Sony dominate the charts yet again with the PS5 and PS4. Steady supply and frequent restocks ensured this. The PS5 in particular has had six restocks since its launch in February of this year. Sources at retail tell us that the PS4 has seen exceptionally strong demand in recent weeks, to the point wherein any stores still have stock of Sony's last-gen console is able to sell it at a mark up above MRP aka scalping. EsGaming has noticed multiple Mumbai and Delhi-based stores doing this.
Nonetheless, Sony has sold around 550,000 units of the PS4 in India since its launch in the country in 2014. As for the PS5, IGN India is able to report after speaking to multiple distributors and retailers that PS5 India sales have passed 20,000. Sources amongst multiple distributors and retailers all independently confirmed that more than 20,000 units have been sold across the country.
This includes grey market purchases and parallel imports available since the console's worldwide launch in November 2020 along with official sales for the console since it's February 2, 2021 release date in India, making it the fastest-selling console in the country ever
